HOW WE DEFINE MINOR DEVELOPMENTS

These are where the number of dwellings to be constructed is fewer than 10. If the number of dwellings remains unspecified, then a site area of less than 0.5 hectares would be classed as a Minor Investment. For non-residential developments, we would say that a Minor Development is one where the floor area is less than 1,000 square metres or the entire site area is less than 1 hectare. Also classed as a Minor Development would be extensions to existing properties or demolitions.
